Course Description: A redesigned one-day course for veterinarians with lectures on the use of transrectal and transabdominal
ultrasound, laparoscopy and endoscopy for diagnostics and therapeutics in the mare and stallion. The course will be comprised
of lectures in the morning and an afternoon wet lab that will include opportunities to perform transrectal ultrasound
examinations, demonstrations of transabdominal ultrasound and videoendoscopy of the uterus of mares and the urethra of a
stallion.

Course Description: The CSU Annual Reproduction Symposium for horse owners, breeding managers and veterinarians
alike, will be focused this year on normal and abnormal behavior of the stallion, mare and foal. Dr. Sue McDonnell, the world-renowned
Equine Behaviorist, will be a major contributor to this year’s program presenting information on basic breeding
behavior, common sexual problems and lessons learned from free-running equids. Other areas covered by CSU faculty will
include clinical cases, cognitive learning, mare and foal behavior and suppressing estrous behavior in mares. Panel discussions
will provide participants the opportunity to ask questions and interact with the faculty and guest lecturers.
Equine Embryo Transfer

Course Description: This course is designed to teach techniques for collection and transfer of equine embryos. Lectures will cover factors affecting recovery of embryos, procedures of superovulation, control of the estrous cycle, surgical and non-surgical methods of embryo transfer, factors affecting pregnancy rates and storage of embryos. Laboratory sessions will aid veterinarians in identifying and handling embryos and assessing embryo quality. Veterinarians will experience hands-on procedures for the recovery of embryos and surgical and non-surgical transfer. Upon completion of this course, practitioners should feel comfortable with the recovery and transfer of equine embryos.
