International Veterinary Student Association

The International Veterinary Student Association (IVSA) exists to benefit the animals and people of the world by harnessing the potential and dedication of veterinary students to promote the international application of veterinary skills, education and knowledge.


IVSA is a worldwide organization whose membership includes students from more than 86 veterinary schools representing over 60 countries. IVSA is constantly seeking to establish links with non-member countries, to encourage the exchange of ideas and values. The IVSA is a non-political organization, and its official language is English.

Internation Leadership: The General Assembly (GA) is composed of IVSA members who vote on initiatives and representation twice annually, during the Summer Congress or Winter Symposium. Executive Committee (ExCo) officers are elected by the GA. And the Board of Trustees members are elected to suuport the ExCo.

USA Leadership: International Exchange Officers (IEO) serve the SAVMA House of Delegates Executive Board, organizes exchanges for US and International Students, and promotes IVSA opportunites.


IVSA strives to:

- Raise the overall standard of veterinary education by increasing international and inter cultural exchange of ideas and knowledge.

- Promote opportunities for veterinary students to pursue education in important fields outside their normal training.


IVSA pusues theses goals by organizing the following international opportunities for students:

- Individual Exchanges

- Group Exchanges

- Summer Congress and Winter Symposium

- Developmental Fund
