Dear Friends,
Welcome to the August edition of E-Insight and a hectic time at the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. As we prepare to welcome students for the Fall 2007 academic semester, we are in the midst of moving the Office of the Dean to a temporary location as our permanent lodgings in the Anatomy/Zoology Building undergo expansion and renovation.
For the next five to six months, you will be able to find us at the Student Services Building located just off the Oval on the northeast side of campus. Coming into the building from the main doors on the south side, you’ll be able to see the office of Jo Campbell and Joanne Greer (Room 108), both of whom can answer your questions and direct you to other offices. With our offices moved, work will begin in earnest on the expansion of the Office of the Dean followed by renovation of the existing floor space. We are looking forward to moving back in this winter, but appreciate the space on loan that is enabling us to keep our staff mostly in the same building.
For information on other CVMBS campus construction activities, we are setting up a new Web page where you can check on-going and future projects to assist with your planning and to minimize inconvenience to our faculty, staff, students and visitors. As we near the end of summer break, I’d like to take this opportunity to welcome new and returning students to Colorado State University. We have many activities planned for your arrival (see related article on orientation) and look forward to seeing you on campus. We are particularly excited about our enhanced orientation program for our Professional Veterinary Medical students which will include a three-day retreat to Pingree Park, the mountain campus of Colorado State University. I’m looking forward to meeting many of our new students at our orientation activities and encourage everyone to participate in this wonderful, celebratory time at the beginning of the new semester.
Lastly, I’d like to mention the accreditation site visit by the American Veterinary Medical Association scheduled for April 20-24, 2008. As part of that process, we will be working on a self-study this fall, including surveys of faculty, staff and alumni. The first surveys of alumni are going out this month and we appreciate everyone’s participation (see related article in this edition of E-Insight). Alumni also will have a chance to give us feedback on their educational experiences at CSU during the Colorado Veterinary Medical Association’s annual meeting in September.
