University NewsColoradoState University System Selects New General Counsel The Board of Governors of the Colorado State University System has named Loretta P. Martinez, an attorney with extensive experience in higher education, General Counsel. Martinez will begin her new duties May 15. "We are pleased to have a professional with Loretta's experience and character serve in this vital position at Colorado State," said Larry Edward Penley, Chancellor of the Colorado State University System. "Her outstanding reputation and long history with higher education position her well to take on this important role and greatly help the university achieve its mission of education, research and outreach." Martinez currently serves as Legal Counsel and General Secretary to Colorado College in Colorado Springs where she has worked since 1999. Martinez also has served as a staff attorney in the University Counsel's Office at the University of Colorado and at the Office of the General Counsel at Harvard University. CSU Athletic Director Announces Resignation
"Mark Driscoll has been a tremendous supporter of Ram athletics and we thank him for his years of service to Colorado State athletics," said President Larry Edward Penley. "Since his days as a Ram quarterback, he has been an outstanding booster and representative of the university. We wish him the best." Dr. Penley also announced that he is appointing a search committee and has begun a national search for a new director. If a new athletic director is not able to be named by the end of March, Christine Susemihl, currently Senior Associate Athletic Director and a longtime employee of Colorado State athletics, has agreed to serve as interim athletic director. Susemihl previously served as interim athletic director before Driscoll was hired. Presidential Search Advisory Committee Selected The Board of Governors of the Colorado State University System today named 11 campus and community leaders to serve as members of the Presidential Search Advisory Committee for Colorado State University-Pueblo. Diane Evans, a member of the Colorado State System Board of Governors, will serve as chairwoman of the search committee. The committee, assisted by the A.T. Kearney search firm, has been asked to identify at least three candidates with the vision and experience to lead the Pueblo campus. The final decision will made by the Board of Governors.
Other members of the new committee are: In October, CSU-Pueblo President Ron Applbaum announced he will resume his career as a faculty member following the completion of his four-year contract in July. Applbaum will take up duties as a tenured Professor of Management at CSU-Pueblo. |
