APHI outreach activities within the US and the international arenas are directed to practicing animal health professionals.

The Institute does not provide coursework for academic credit at Colorado State University. Additional information for individuals interested in graduate education opportunites is provided in the "Courses & degree programs at CSU" link to the right.

Workshops & Training Programs

Faculty and staff collaborate with professionals to co-sponsor, organize and provide workshops and training programs for practicing veterinarians and animal health workers.

In November 2014, APHI facilitated the International Workshop on Feral Swine Disease and Risk Management in conjunction with USDA APHIS.

Veterinary Drug Formulary Available in Georgian and Russian

In 2009, APHI researchers, Drs. Katie Steneroden and Ed Wydallis traveled to the Republic of Georgia to observe the practice of veterinary medicine and conduct a needs assessment for veterinary training. Local veterinarians needed information on drugs, dosages and indications for use. Hence the idea was born of putting together a concise, useful Veterinary Drug Formulary and translating it into Georgian. Since the common language of all the former Soviet countries is Russian, it has now been translated into Russian.

In meeting colleagues from all over the world, Ed and Katie are particularly interested in comparing systems of food animal production with an eye towards learning about and improving on current systems. They hope the Veterinary Drug Formulary will be useful in that regard.

Dr. Ed Wydallis is a graduate of Colorado State University, College of Veterinary Medicine. He and his wife Kathy, and daughter Dr. Jessica Wydallis, have a large animal veterinary practice in Wellington, Colorado. Dr. Katie Steneroden is currently the Deputy Director of the Livestock Innovation Lab for Adapting Livestock Systems to Climate Change at Colorado State University.
